Puerto Edén
A real paradise; a shelter for the population of surviving kaweskar or alacalufe native Indians. That's Puerto Edén, a small Patagonian village established in 1930 by the Chilean Air Force as base for sea planes flying from Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas. What keeps this village of nomads, who used to travel across the islands of the end of the world looking for animals and sea products, alive is the great fishing and mussel extraction activities in the area.

Places to visit

Fishermen themselves offer visits to Malacca small bay, Angostura Inglesa and to the shipwrecks of Capitán Leonidas and Cotopaxi vessels in the area, which stranded one over the other.
Another nice tour is through the Kirke channel or White strait inhabited by sea wolves (Otaria flavescens) and other species of the local fauna. Here you can sail across the Almirante Montt gulf, passing by Última Esperanza sound toward Puerto Natales amid a beautiful variety of Chilean fauna, including swans, cormorants, seagulls and flamingoes during autumn season.
