Seno Otway Penguin Colony

On half day excursion, located 65 kilometers from the city of Punta Arenas, you can admire the Magellan penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) in their natural habitat and take marked trails that will show the way to numerous birds flying about or nesting. From the beach lookout you can appreciate a beautiful milieu where flocks of wild geese, ostriches, Caiquenes, Ñandue and Bandurrias reign.

Natural Monument Magdalena Island

The natural monument, Magdalena Island is located about 35 kilometers from Punta Arenas and takes approximately 2 hours of navigating through the Strait of Magellan to get there. The colony consists of about 7060,000 penguin couples. At the top of the island is a lighthouse which houses the Environmental Interpretation Center with the the history of the strait and the local fauna.
