Torres del Paine National Park
Activities

There are two ways of visiting Torres del Paine National Park: by car or by carrying out nice hikes.

Those who go by car may travel through a main path from where there are several detours to the different park's attractions, like the detour to Laguna Azul, to Las Torres Inn, to Pudeto shelter and to Serrano river. The park can be visited departing from these detours.
Without a doubt, hiking is the best way to visit the park. All paths are properly signaled and there are many estancias (ranches) and resting shelters in between. It is important to bring suitable clothing and gear.
On foot excursions are classified according to their duration and segments.
During one or two days, you can go across Torres del Paine trail that starts at Laguna Amarga ranger station and visits one of the lagoons in the area.
For two or three days, you can explore the trail to the glacier and Valle Francés that goes across a river and a stunning glacier.
If you have a better physical condition, for 6 days you can venture through the trail surrounding the Paine massif and which starts at Laguna Amarga, passes by the Grey glacier and ends at the Pudeto rustic shelter.
The last tour is the W circuit that surrounds the park utterly: It goes along the edge of the Nordensjkold lake, arrives at Torres del Paine, follows through Cuernos, passes by Valle Francés and the Grey glacier and ends at the Pehoe shelter. This tour is to be made with the assistance of a specialized tour guide.
Along the excursion trails, there are shelters and camp sites where visitors can rest and spend the night. Following are the three areas to camp inside the Park:

. Pehoe lake camp site: Close to the lake bearing the same name.
. Serrano river camp site: Located in the Toro lake area.
. Laguna Azul camp site: Located in the area bearing the same name.
For further information, contact the management of the Park or a park ranger..
